The band. The myth. The legend. Formed in Astoria, Queens in the mid 00's, One Hot Second is a acoustic comedy trio whose music includes original compositions as well as a plethora of parody material. Imagine mixing Hall and Oates, Journey, The Smiths, Tenacious D, and Flight of the Conchords with one singer, two guitars, and a lot of booze. The result would be a band that Why Leave Astoria calls "a unique brand of humor and acoustic mayhem that will have you consequently snorting and/or spitting out your drink (or maybe both at the same time!)" 8th Annual Halloween Show at Lovecraft NYC

Even though our beloved Crescent Lounge has closed, we are continuing our tradition of Halloween shows (8 years straight!) – and we are invading Manhattan!

Halloween Comedy Music Show - October 30th at Lovecraft

Yes, we will be playing at Lovecraft! What better place to play a Halloween musical comedy show than a bar/restaurant inspired by horror writer HP Lovecraft? We will be debuting some new Halloween songs. Admission is free! We hope to see you there. Leave a comment and let us know if you are coming or head over to our Facebook page and RSVP.

The-End

The End of an Era

The Crescent Lounge holds a special place in our heart. It is where we first played over 8 years ago. Now the business is changing hands. So chances are we will most likely not play there again. To say our goodbyes, we are playing “The Last Round at Crescent” tomorrow night, at 8 PM. Make it if you can.

We would love to see you there. If you want more information, check out the Facebook event! Crescent Lounge is located at 32-05 Crescent Street (at Broadway) in Astoria!

Halloween 6 and We’ve Been Buzzfed

So, Halloween is fast approaching and you know what that means – time for our 6th Annual Halloween Show! Halloween is one of our favorite shows of the year to do and our fans (as lazy as they are) seem to enjoy it too!

This year’s show will actually take place on Halloween! October 31st at 7:30 PM at the Crescent Lounge in Astoria, Queens, New York City! The show will also be part of a fundraiser for The Friends of The Steinway Mansion – you can check out their website here.

In other Halloween news, we were featured in a BuzzFeed article about how “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” is the greatest Halloween song of all time. No, seriously…it really happened. Look here – and go down to the bottom to see our video. While we may disagree with the statement (we have tons of Halloween songs!) we genuinely appreciate the exposure. THESE DUDES are happy!

So – what do you think is the greatest Halloween song of all time? Is it one of ours? Leave a comment and let us know! And we hope to see you at the Halloween show. It will be spooky, scary!

One Hot Second Melts Your Face Off!

We are playing a show…in the SUMMER! Yes, we know it is unusual. We usually take a hiatus during the Summer months. Why? Because it is hot and we prefer to drink beer and hang out. But this year, oh no, we are suffering through the heat and putting on a show – JUST FOR YOU!

We will be playing on Wednesday, July 24th at 7:30 PM at the one and only Crescent Lounge in Astoria, New York (32-05 Crescent Street). Admission is free! Check out the Facebook event and let us know that you are coming.

Remember, be there or we will never forgive you.

The Interview is Coming! The Interview is Coming!

Remember that much talked about magazine interview we mentioned a while back? Well, mark your calendars – it is coming out in Boro Magazine on July 5th! Boro is an Astoria / Long Island City Art and Culture Magazine – yes, we are apparently considered art and/or culture. Go figure!

So pick up a copy of Boro in Queens for free or go check out their website on the 5th and see our ugly mugs splashed across the pages.

HALO – An original song…

It is something that only gamers truly understand. Whatever horrible thing may be happening in real life, escaping into the game for a little while can change your frame of mind and leave you feeling relaxed…

And with that, we give you HALO, our original song dedicated to gamers…

What do you think?

Have you got your kazoo ready?

A while back, we decided that a kazoo fit our needs for songs that required either a wind instrument, or synthesizers…or a kazoo. This decision culminated with the “Astoria Free Will Kazoo Chorus” – a group of fans who volunteered to play along with us on a cover of The Final Countdown by Europe. Because, you know, it works…
